What We Examine
Ultrasound gives your veterinarian a real-time view inside your pet's body — without surgery, without sedation in most cases, and without any radiation exposure.
Size, texture, blood flow, masses and signs of liver disease or infiltration
Stones, cysts, structural changes, signs of chronic or acute kidney disease
Stones, polyps, thickening of the wall, signs of infection or obstruction
Enlargement, masses, nodules and changes in texture or vascular supply
Inflammation (pancreatitis), masses and structural abnormalities
Wall thickness, motility, obstructions and signs of inflammatory disease
Enlargement and structural changes that may indicate infection or other conditions
Detection and assessment of free fluid accumulation in the abdominal cavity
When to Book
These symptoms are often investigated with blood tests first — but many internal conditions only become visible with ultrasound imaging.
Persistent vomiting — especially when blood tests are inconclusive — often points to a structural issue that only imaging can reveal.
When diarrhoea lasts beyond a few days or keeps recurring, intestinal wall changes and organ involvement need to be assessed directly.
Weight loss with a good appetite, or without an obvious cause, can indicate organ disease, masses or metabolic conditions requiring imaging.
Abdominal enlargement can indicate fluid accumulation, organ enlargement or masses. Ultrasound identifies the cause rapidly and safely.
Changes in drinking and urination habits are common signs of kidney, bladder or hormonal conditions — all assessable with ultrasound.
A pet that flinches when touched in the belly area, walks hunched or avoids lying down may have an internal problem that needs imaging.
Elevated liver or kidney markers, or abnormal cell counts, often require ultrasound to identify the structural cause behind the numbers.
For healthy senior pets, annual abdominal imaging detects conditions early — before they become symptomatic and harder to manage.

We perform abdominal ultrasound on all species including exotic animals — rabbits, birds, reptiles and others. Most clinics in Abu Dhabi do not offer imaging for exotic species. We do, and with the same standard of care.
